This morning, like most mornings, Tucker was the last one awake. In fact, by the time Tucker woke up this morning, the other three had already gotten dressed eaten breakfast, and brushed their teeth. Cooper and Addie were packed and ready to go for school, the only thing left to do was family prayer. We all knelt around Tucker's bed, as he was still just barely rousing, and had family prayer and a round of hugs. Then we said our goodbyes and Eric headed off with Cooper and Addie to school and work.
Tucker was still moving slowly, so I took the rare oppurtunity I had to lie down next to him and get in a good snuggle session. After only a few minutes, however, his tummy started waking up and he started asking about breakfast. Although Tucker has always seemed to require more sleep than any of my other kids, it has always bothered him that he often misses out on all the action while he snoozes a while longer. This morning, like many other mornings, he wanted to know what the other kids had eaten for breakfast. I explained that they had yogurt with müsli, toast, and bananas. Usually he wants the very same things that they had, and yogurt is one of his favorite things, ever. (There really is no comparison to European yogurt... SO good.)
I was surprised this morning, however, after I explained the breakfast menu, that Tucker started to cry - big, long, heart-broken sobs. Completely confused, I started asking him why he was so sad. It took a little while to translate his woes through all the sobbing, but I finally figured it out. He thought the kids had eaten his beloved, stuffed moose, Moosely (adorably pronounced Moose-sully) for breakfast. When I finally figured out why he was so heartbroken, I had to stifle a smile while I tried to locate Moosely in the midst of all the pillows and blankets on the bed. I found the stuffed animal, and he immediately stopped crying and hugged Moosely with a sigh of relief. I explained that the kids would never eat Moosely for breakfast - because afterall, she wouldn't even taste that good!
After the problem was solved, Tucker quickly came out and chose his favorite yogurt. I showed him the bag of müsli, and asked him if wanted some with his yogurt. He politely declined saying, "No, I don't think moose-sully tastes good for breakfast."
